Not yet ready to scrims

Postby Arès » Sat Sep 19, 2009 1:56 pm

Hello!
I'm a pretty bad or lucky/average player in Dystopia... :D I usuelly play Medium AR with TAC and Mediplant.

I love join a Team on Dystopia, but there is a lot of issue...

1) My English is a (little bit) poor, I speak french.
2) I never done a PUG on Dystopia, I only done war and compet on TF2 (6vs6)
3) Nobody use mediplant instead of legbooster...
4)I Can play only Tuesday, Thursday night and the weekend if my presence is need...

1-No Solution for moment. I try to improve that by myself.
2-What I have to do in order to "incorporate" a Pug?
3-What touch on keyboard for the LB sprint?
4-...Study...Girlfriend...Alcohol...

Stats

I understand my skilled, teamplay , English is too low to join a team for official scrim, but I should enjoy some training and pug in a competitive format in side of team.

PS: I see a lot of team is looking for new player. Because of my "special" profil I prefer create a new topic.

Hi glad your looking to get into the competitive scene.

I have a few suggestions for you.

First, Left Shift is your sprint key when you have legboosters

Second, I would look up and join the Dystopia Pickup Games group. This is how we organize a lot of our pugs.

Third, if anything, I would suggest watching a few pugs before playing in them. The puggers are generally pretty good and it can be quite difficult, especially for new players. Watching a few competitive games will show you how they are played.

Finally, just go into it with the attitude that a lot of people are going to be better than you, but if you really want to improve then you'll be able to.

pugs are slightly too unorganised to have a mediplant, I'd say watch some top 10 DGL matches to see how it's used.
to join pugs, get in touch with some people like john or k9 and they'll gladly have more people join including you.

I join the Dystopia Pickup Games group. :D
First pug today.

I already saw some DGL Scrims on HLTV...I know that Mediplant is not very efficient but I not (yet) efficient with LB.
Left shift is generally my reload key but I will improve my keyboard "logic".

I hope to pug again soon!

it doesn't matter what your keys are, as long as they are comfortable for you -
if you can sprint + strafe + shoot + jump and you don't need 6 fingers.. then it works!
stick to whatever feels comfortable.
typically though, people tap their LB before they jump to sprint+jump, like a longjump. so, you have to adjust your keys accordingly (for instance if your jump is on space, you might want to put sprint on your mouse, so you can press both with your thumb easily)
