Pythons' list of suggestions for the next version

Postby nkpythons » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:43 pm

Okay, first of all; Minigun is WAY too weak. The damage is practically nothing.
What I'd suggest: Personally, I'd suggest removing the cone of fire so that's it's more like the shaft attack in cyberspace (except with a much greater range, of course) and boosting the damage to at least 70 damage per flechette. Doubling the magazine capacity to 600 rounds wouldn't hurt, either.

Fly by wire mode, what the hell? This thing is way too unmaneuverable. It turns incredibly slowly, and is way too insensitive to movement key presses.
What I'd suggest: After five feet of moving, you will be completely unable to control it. Of course, within 0 to 4.999 feet, pressing any movement key would make it turn 90 degrees in the direction you tell it to. (90 degrees up, 90 degrees to the left, 90 degrees to the right, etc.)

Laser Rifle is totally messed up. The zoom is way too ineffective. What is that, 600x? That's like a Nerf Longshot's scope. Its accuracy is also all wrong. It's incredibly difficult to hit anything. I blame the hitscan.
What I'd suggest: Increase the scope's range to at least 100,000x. If I can't see the atomic structure of my enemies, it's not zoomed enough. If I can't perform eye surgery on them from across the map on Exodus, it's not zoomed enough. After the scope's range has been boosted to scanning tunneling microscopy levels, I would also suggest fixing the aiming. To do this, you would have to make it so that the laser can bend around corners and autolock onto an enemy's head (this function would be similar to the current smartlocks.) Also, boost the damage to around 350 per fully charged shot; I feel that this would be more realistic. It is a laser, after all.

The entire medium class is way too powerful.
What I'd suggest: The medium class is too powerful because their weapons are too powerful. I'd suggest taking away their weapons and leaving them with just a machine pistol and a dull katana. In fact, remove the katana altogether. Heavies only get a fist to work with, why should any other class get a sword? Balance is balance, you know.

Hyphen, what the hell were you thinking when you recoded cyberspace?
What I'd suggest: Hitscan attack needs to be instant kill and Cyberspace needs to be more like tron, where even your trail is a weapon. Also, cyberspace is way too dark. I feel like I am playing in the Carlsbad Caverns or something. I'd suggest having the walls, floors, ceilings, players, and skybox all emit about 100,000 lux per square meter.

What happened to the game speed? It used to be such a slow, turn-based game and now you have completely ruined it. Everyone moves way too fast now, even heavies.
What I'd suggest: Make legboosters take up about 55 energy per second to hinder the bunny hoppers who make this game too fast paced. After this, reduce the classes' movement speeds as follows:
Light - Current medium walking speed
Medium - Current heavy speed
Heavy - Current minigun alternate fire speed

The assault rifle is definitely an under chosen, underpowered weapon.
What I'd suggest: First, a 100 round c-mag to encourage users to be a little less conservative with their aiming. Second, full-auto zoom. Come on, no one uses this feature ever. Lastly, armor piercing headshots.

The Grenade Launcher also reloads too fast. I'd suggest giving it about a 20 second reload, to be fair to the classes that do not have such explosive capabilities.

Please only one suggestion per post. We must be able to verify the merits individually and not as a whole.
